FREE TOOLS TO CREATE MARKETING COLLATERAL

The internet isn’t usually a popular topic in conversations I have with owners and staff members of optometric practices. Dealing with reviews and competition from web-based retailers along with the challenge of creating and maintaining a website and good social media marketing may have many of you feeling resentful of how much our world has changed because of the internet.

Sometimes, though, the internet can surprise us with access to amazing tools and resources which before now were an added expense – and I’d like to let you know about two of these great resources, which are completely free!

The first free tool enables you to create social media posts, brochures, posters, flyers, signage, and even a logo through access to hundreds of different well-designed, aesthetically pleasing templates. You can upload your logo, brand colors, and any pictures you wish to use. The website is canva.com – set up your free account user name and password, and easily create any digital or print collateral you need! If you’ve ever worked in PowerPoint, you can use this tool. No graphic design skills are needed!

The second free tool offers access to thousands of high resolution photographs – completely free. No need to pay for stock photos anymore to use in marketing collateral! Creating an invite to a trunk show? Looking for an attractive image to use in your email campaign? Need a great photo to use in a Facebook ad? Simply navigate to Unsplash.com! Set up your user name and password for complete access to an impressive collection of high resolution photography.

While it may be argued that Canva and Unsplash are disruptive to graphic design and photography, I know running a small business means you don’t have a large budget for marketing and really need all the low-cost (or no-cost) help you can get! Using these tools will help you maintain a professional and appealing image both online and inside the practice with great marketing collateral.
