July 13, 2022, Norwalk, CT – In an effort to continue empowering the independent optometry community with tools that optimize success in practice ownership, IDOC is pleased to announce the launch of two new resources for eye care professionals: the Eye Own a Business podcast, and the IDOC Optometric Specialty Community on Facebook.

Eye Own a Business: The Podcast for Independent Optometrists

IDOC’s new podcast, Eye Own a Business, teaches independent ODs how to grow a thriving practice while wearing the hats of both a doctor and a business owner.

“After years of serving independent optometry practice owners and hearing their most common struggles, we are so excited to launch this podcast,” said host Dr. Steve Vargo. “Eye Own a Business is a resource that explores the question: how do you grow an eyecare business? Not just own one, buy one, or operate one, but how do you really turn it into something great?”

Eye Own a Business takes a deeper dive into the strategies and best practices of successful optometry practice owners, with experts revealing how they differentiate their practices, stand out from the crowd, and continue to thrive despite facing the same challenges that every other practice is facing. Topics of discussion will cover every angle of practice management, from avoiding financial blunders to retaining quality staff, maximizing revenue, gaining an edge on the competition, and more.

Dr. Steve Vargo, Practice Management Consultant at IDOC and an OD himself with 15 years of clinical experience, brings a wealth of insight and deep industry knowledge to the show along with a passion for seeing independent practice owners thrive. “While there is more than one way to achieve success,” Dr. Vargo said, “our goal with Eye Own a Business is to make it faster and easier by sharing not only what’s worked for successful doctors and industry experts, but also what’s not worked. In every episode we aim to equip listeners with the tools and strategies they need to build the practice of their dreams.”

Eye Own a Business is now available on most major podcast platforms, with episodes releasing every other week.

IDOC Cultivates Community with Specialty-Focused Facebook Group

In tandem with the podcast launch, IDOC has created a Facebook group, the IDOC Optometric Specialty Community, specifically designed to support eye care professionals interested in making specialty services a more meaningful part of their practice. The group serves as an open forum for questions and offers the community an opportunity to share best practices, learn from others’ mistakes and successes, gain insight from IDOC’s experts, and access live trainings and Q&A sessions.

The interactive group seeks to equip community members with the motivation they need to become the go-to practice in the area of specialty services they provide. The IDOC Optometric Specialty Community is open to all eye care professionals, including ODs, opticians, students, and other industry professionals. Visit the group on Facebook.
